In the 2015 budget at Kildare County Council which was set in late 2014, Fianna Fáil led a motion to cut Local Property Tax by 7.5% for Kildare which was passed and which householders will see the saving in their LPT bills this year. In addition to the tax cut, a further 7.5% of LPT collected was ring fenced for each Municipal District to be spent at the discretion of the elected councillors. In the Naas area agreement has now been reached to use this fund for the following in 2015.
- Playground in Kill
- Under-grounding of cables on Naas Main street
- Naas – Sallins Canal Greenway Project
- Roads Upgrades across the District
- Additional monies for Residents Associations
- Additional monies for Tidy Towns Groups
The intention is to repeat this each year targeting a playground in Sallins next year for example (depending on site availability) and so on as needed. I stated in council at the start of term that the LPT monies must be spent locally and this is now happening.
I remember discussions over possible sites in sallins for playground for the past 10 years. Are we really any further to a site? Some estates now have green spaces where bypass was due to cross. Wasn’t there a deal done for one of these sites!
