I am deeply committed to improving public transport, as it plays a crucial role in our daily lives—whether it’s getting to work, school, or visiting family and friends. That’s why we need to ensure that our public transport system is both high-quality, reliable and affordable.
Here are some of the ways I will help facilitate that:
Supporting the “Mega Projects”:DART Plus, West to Maynooth and Kilcock, South West to Hazelhatch and Sallins, Bus Connects and Airport Metro – these will all significantly enhance bus connections across the city and surrounding regional areas. This includes the DART Southwest, DART South, and DART North etc which should extend to Maynooth, Kilcock, Hazelhatch, and Sallins. This will provide a seamless service, reducing strain on existing bus routes.
Expanding Capacity with Double-Deckers: We need to increase capacity on routes such as the 120 to Straffan and the 126 to Naas by introducing more double-decker buses. This will ensure that these routes are better served, reducing overcrowding and improving the overall travel experience.
Extending the Metro to the Airport: A key priority is extending the Metro to Dublin Airport, allowing passengers to travel from areas such as Sallins, Naas, Maynooth, Kilcock, and Celbridge directly into the city and onwards to the airport via public transport.
Ensuring Reliability: We must ensure that the buses we currently have are reliable, punctual, and consistently meet the needs of passengers.
Naas & Sallins Rail User Group: I set up the Naas & Sallins Rail User Group in 2005, we have achieved many successes since and the service is leaps ahead of what it was then.
As a passionate advocate for public transport, I am dedicated to continuing this work in the next Dáil as your TD and Minister. I would be grateful for your support in making these improvements a reality.
