Friday May 23rd is polling day and I would respectfully ask for your no. 1 vote. If you have been following my updates on this site, you will know that I have worked very hard as a community activist on a wide range of issues for many years now. However there is a limit to what can be achieved without a seat at the table. If I can secure election to Kildare County Council I will have a far greater influence and greater direction over the course of events locally.
If elected, my priorities will include:
LOCAL BUSINESS:
Naas town centre needs a revival plan. If elected, I will work with businesses, residents and council officials to ensure there is a working plan to restore the heart of Naas town. The wider local economy also needs support. If elected on May 23rd this is a priority issue.
INFRASTRUCTURE:
Finally we are about to see the the long over due Sallins by-pass. However, there is still a long way to go to see it over the line. Funding needs to be allocated and the timetable needs to be guaranteed. If elected I will continue to support this critical project and to press for its rapid completion.
TAKING-IN-CHARGE:
Now that we’re all paying Local Property Tax it is imperative we have access to the services we’re supposedly paying for. An essential ingredient in this process is having our estates taken-in-charge.
AMENITIES:
Our sports and leisure clubs need support and we need to play catchup. Our towns and villages have expanded but these important services haven’t received their fair share of attention. I will work to ensure that amenities are treated as a fundamental requirement in future council plans.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
I will keep you informed of what is happening in your area. I will advise you on what is proposed and listen to your opinions. I will be accountable for whatever actions or decisions I may take in office.
I also hope to advance many other local issues including roads maintenance, education facilities, environmental concerns, broadband, crime prevention to name but a few.
However I want to be realistic and will specifically make just two election promises:
- that I will work my hardest, and
- that I will keep you informed
As always I will be free to contact to discuss these issues and other matters arising in our community. Thank you for your support.
Vote no.1 James Lawless on Friday May 23rd.
