- Sustained huge reputational damage in crisis
- Viewed by many as corrupt / self-serving
- Party organisation weak / dormant many areas
- Local organisations may lack local drivers / leaders
- Low level of support in national media
2.3. Opportunities
- Enthusiasm amongst membership for renewal
- Impetus to renew party and restore greatness
- Embrace social media & technology landscapes
- Encourage new candidates into field locally
- Get involved in ground level campaigns
- Labour may suffer during coalition backlash
- Recast recent narrative – claim credit for any recovery
- New candidates may be attracted by seat vacancies
- Out of government can concentrate on party

- Loss of support in certain key demographics to other parties – Sinn Féin and Labour
