Meeting with parents outside the old boys school, Clane.

I am delighted with today’s decision to grant permission for a new school consisting of 24 classrooms and ancillary accommodation. I have worked on this issue for some time as I understand how critical it is given the current accomodation is overcrowded and has outlived its purpose. I met in March with the Principal of St Patrick’s, Mr Pat Costello, to assist in progressing this project with Kildare County Council.

I was delighted to attend the opening of the Supervalu in Kilcock this morning. This is a huge economic boost for the town with over 70 new jobs delivered to the area.

Big congratulations to all at Supervalu and to Cllr Paul Ward and former Cllr Liam Doyle who put many hours into making this happen. I look forward to continuing to work with all to progress on issues for Kilcock.

This week in my Maynooth Constituency Office I met with talented Soprano Sharon McCarthy to discuss the need for a full Minister for the Arts. This is a issue Fianna Fáil have put a motion down on and raised extensively in the Dáil.

Celbridge based Soprano Sharon McCarthy explained to me her involvement with the National Campaign for the Arts and her own career as a performer. It was a fasintating discussion and many of the points will be raised in the Dáil.

If you wish to listen to some of Sharon’s work it can be found here.

Meeting with IFA President Joe Healy and Kildare North Farmers Roy Gallie & Brian Rushe

It was great to sit down with Irish Farmers Association (IFA) President Joe Healy and the Kildare delgation at their Oireachtas briefing recently. The Farmer Income Crisis briefing highlighted many serious issues affecting our small farmers across Kildare North.

It’s imperative we improve the supports available to small farmers in Kildare. I am looking forward to continue working with them to promote and support the good work the farming community do in our county.

If I can be of any assistance to farmers or their familys applying for grants etc. please dont hesitate to contact my office.

Commerating Frank Burke of Carbury

I was delighted to attend the Carbury Feild Day today. We were also there to Commemorate Frank Burke from Carbury, who was in the GPO, also was the man marking Michael Hogan in Croke Park on Bloody Sunday. His Son, Eanna, was in attendance and was Grand Marshal of the parade from Derrinturn Hall/Church and on to the field. The event was part of Carbury Field Day, which was well organised, all went to plan apart from the weather.
