21272631_10155468032726047_9036342793540349160_nMassive congrats to Leixlip Tidy Towns on their 3rd place finish in the Irish Business Against Litter results. Having seen first hand the work put in by Leixlip Tidy Towns and having attended several of their events I know that this award and very high ranking is justly deserved. Leixlip and Confey are really looking well and it is a huge credit to all involved to reach this standard. Well done to all the volunteers and of course the townsfolk for having the streets looking so neat and tidy and in great shape. I look forward to working with them to build on this achievement.

Selected to contest the next general election

c754c8c7-df40-43a5-b0ee-810919a621dbI have been nominated by the party membership to contest the next general election. The selection convention held in the Westrgrove, Clane selected two Fianna Fáil candidates to run in the next general election. It is a tremendous honour for me to be nominated by the members in Kildare North to contest the next election on behalf of the party. I would especially like to thank those cumainn that nominated me including Kill, Sallins, Naas, Prosperous, Carbury, Kilshanroe, Kilcock and the Old Carton cumann, Maynooth as well as all the individual party members who placed their faith in me again. Save St. Catherine’s Park March

With Cllr. Bernard Caldwell at the march.

With Cllr. Bernard Caldwell at the march.

There was a big turn out for the march to save St. Catherine’s Park bordering Leixlip and Confey. The park sits between three local authority areas, namely Kildare, Fingal and South Dublin. This makes planning complicated and especially when one of those councils have put a line on a map indicating a potential road link through the park in future. People turned out today to show their support for the park and ensure that a road will not be welcomed cutting through the middle of it.

Opening of Confey Coffee & Leixlip Youth Club

18198703_10155062568716047_914699152118373772_nI was delighted to attend the official opening of the “Confey Coffee” cafe as part of the Leixlip Youth Club and Community Centre. The project has been a long time in the making and some attendees have been involved for over twenty years. Intel also played a big part in funding for the project and the centre was one of the “pride of place” winners in their sponsorship competition. Well done to all involved, a great new resource for the people of Leixlip and Confey
