Attending the Maynooth Purple Flag Launch night with Alan Shine of Kildare North Chamber of Commerce

I am delighted that Maynooth has won the Purple Flag award. It was an honour to attend the campaign night in the Glenroyal recently and lend my support to North Kildare Chamber of Commerce and Kildare County Council. Based in Maynooth with my constituency office I am acutely aware of how hard businesses and local community groups worked for this award. All stakeholders can be very proud of their efforts on what is a great day for Maynooth.

Sports Capital Grants Soon to be Opened

Sports Capital Grants are vital to clubs in our local community. I have worked with rugby clubs in Celbridge, a boxing club in Clane, and soccer clubs in Naas who are always looking for funding to continue the excellent work they do in the community and success in their field. I would urge those involved in similar organisations to use the down time over Christmas to begin to gather the information needed to apply on the 23rd January 2017.”

It is a comprehensive application and those interested should register at https://www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie/ to make the process that bit easier for themselves. There is a short window to apply, closing on the 24th February. I am assisting some clubs with their applications and would be delighted to help any other interested organisations.

A how to apply video for the 2017 window can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_Diz7eyEdc&feature=youtu.be

Celbridge School Visit Leinster House

Celbridge_School_LHTourOver 90 students from Scoil Mochua, Celbridge recenlty visited me in Dáil Éireann. In one of the last school tours before Leinster House temporarily closes for renovations the students met with me to discuss the issues with Celbridge, including the need for a new playground and less homework.

The students, who went on a tour of Leinster House, also had mini debates in the Dáil, to demonstrate their debate skills which they had been practising in the weeks prior.

I am delighted to meet with all the students from Scoil Mochua today. It was a pleasure to debate them and I think we have some future TD’s from Celbridge in that class. I’ll have to watch out for them. I look forward to helping them on their projects, and as one student said to me ‘Lets make Celbridge great again’.
