We might not like the result, we might not like the way the campaign was fought, we may take serious issue with some of the arguments made on the opposing side, we may feel intense frustration but once the people go into the polling booths their view is sovereign. Once the ballots are securely and legitimately cast and counted the result must stand no matter what. Because that’s democracy. The mysteriously funded and well organised No campaign purposely confused the Irish public with deliberate and provable lies. Why does this demand our respect?
